Candlestick Patterns 101: Advance Block

Candlestick patterns like the Advance Block are all about short-term reversals in the trend of the price. When you have a period of significant selling, knowing when to go long is important. However, the amount of confirmation needed to go long can vary. With any setup, it’s about risk, reward and probability. The better the probability, the lower the reward/risk, and vice versa.

Advance Block Basics

The Advance Block candle pattern is an effective pattern since it requires more directional confirmation. It generally provides a more durable bottom, but it comes at the consequence of having to see more days of the price advancing. The overlapping bodies is indicative of the failure of the bears and the potential for the bulls to take charge.
