Volatility on Deck — Sell the Rips
by Tony Rago

Big selloff overnight with crude pushing up to $109, setting the stage for expanded ranges and fast-moving price action. When you see that kind of pressure paired with elevated energy, it tends to spill over into equities and create sharper rotations on both sides. I’ll be approaching this as a “sell the rallies” type of tape — but that only works if we actually get the rallies first. The weekly pivot becomes a key reference point here; trading above it can invite responsive buyers and short-term bounces, while failure around that level keeps sellers firmly in control. As always, the opening range will matter — that initial balance often dictates whether we trend or chop.

This is one of those sessions where patience pays. Let the market open, establish its footing, and give you information before jumping in. With crude staying bid, there’s a real chance we see pressure build into a downside break of the opening range — but forcing trades early in volatility like this is how you get caught. Longs are likely scalp-oriented at best, and even those may not be worth pressing unless the setup is clean. Stay sharp, stay flexible, and respect the speed of the tape — this has all the ingredients of a whippy end to the week. ⚡️
