Headline Push — But Watch the Trap
by Tony Rago
Another headline hits and we’re seeing that familiar pre-market push higher, but the real question is whether this move has substance or is just another setup. I’m still leaning toward an upside move that could catch traders off guard — the kind that squeezes through positioning before resolving. That said, yesterday’s highs remain the key pivot. If price can clear and hold above that level, it opens the door for continuation. If not, we’re right back into the same environment where strength gets faded. It’s been a pattern — and until proven otherwise, it deserves respect.
Bears have been incredibly consistent selling these pops, and as long as Crude Oil holds above 103, that pressure can stay in play. That level acts as a sentiment gauge — elevated crude can weigh on equities and support downside attempts. But if crude starts to crack, that’s your shift… that’s where the script can flip. So stay sharp here. If we push above yesterday’s highs, you have to be ready for a squeeze — not chase it blindly, but recognize the shift in behavior. This is a “stay on your toes” tape where reaction matters more than prediction. ⚡️
